Twitter is likened to a busy bar, and in a busy bar you have people talking to people. In a bar you talk to people you know and there will also be chance conversations. We all know that chance conversations can be fruitful. Collectively a lot of sound is being created. We would all agree that a bar is a very social place to be and we all have our favourite bars, and favourite aspects of the bars we frequent.
The Twitter Bar has become, to a certain extent, a jumble of discordant sounds. Ranging from 'pure' tweets that are original and newsworthy, followed by immediate retweets. Influencers within various industries sail through the Twitter seas like giant whales sharing their take on subjects followed by entourage shoals retweeting within seconds. Then there are the quotes. A twitter stream is not a twitter stream without a plethora of quotes to live your life by. There are pointless tweets such as I have posted to Facebook. Imagine standing in the Twitter Bar on your own and just randomly shouting out something. You would definitely get a few weird looks.
In order for Twitter to work for you, you need to work out why, when and how you are going to use it. It needs thought and planning, so that your presence, personality and what it is you offer go some way to make sure the crowd is hovering around you at the bar.
I have selected 4 very useful links that will go some way to improving your social presence at the Twitter Bar. From the quality of your tweets through to ideas of what to tweet when Twitter block occurs.
