And there's plenty of research and fact out there that suggests that our brains process visuals 60,000 times faster than text. Infants process visuals much quicker than speaking or reading. And as such as we age and develop visuals are committed to longer term memory much better than words.
The internet has content pushed out every single millisecond, it's no wonder our brains are a little overloaded. Internalizing and deciphering and trying to make sense of the information we have just funnelled in. It makes sense to have a great visual that can say a thousand words, it is easier for the brain to commit to memory.
The right visual can convey the right message, the right emotion at the right time. Think why a lot of charities on TV aim their fundraising efforts just when you are sitting down to your evening meal. Visuals help take a complex subject and make it more understandable.
Social media platforms have capitalised on this and now pull visuals into their content and demand a greater need for better quality content to be published to satisfy demand, to continuously grab our attention and influence our emotions.
