What I found extremely interesting was their Facebook page and the engagement in the build up of the programme starting. Twitter was all go with the team engaging their followers to tweet #Bakeoffsong - see below for a selection that was tweeted.
These are large scale campaigns and quite rightly so, both platforms have huge numbers to keep engaged and certainly goes along way to getting the Great British nation into baking.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words and let's face it cakes tend to be attractive and evocative.
Another example is that of Sugar et Spice [click link and join their Facebook page] in Cognac. They make their own cakes and sell to the French and English 3 days a week. What I love about their page is that every Thursday without fail they post a picture of a gorgeous cake that puts you in the mood for a sweet treat. I can honestly say their chocolate brownies are the best!
If you are in the market for making delicious delicacies such as cakes and have Facebook presence then get busy teasing your fans with your delights. We all want our cake and eat it, so create unique offers for FB fans to purchase from you. Pinterest is another platform that is ideal for such visuals. Much of Pinterest is food related and is a great place to get a 'virtual' fix of something nice and guey.
Bakers be brave, be daring!
