As well as YOU being part of the marketing mix there are dozens of other of marketing activities that could be put to good use in your business to attract and retain customers. Knowing how to find your customers and promoting to them is dependent on your research, planning and executing a strategy. So for every Euro you invest the return needs to be much greater – so you cover your costs and get some profit!
Many of us are familiar with the term traditional marketing. Print marketing is perhaps the oldest form of traditional marketing. Many of us use local magazines for continuous reach to their readers. Ads need to stand out, usually with important elements that are unique to your business.
Inside the last decade there has been an explosion in the use of social media marketing. Whereby we use social sites that are internet based to attract attention and traffic. Content shared on social sites needs to grab attention or provide a hook so that viewers are taken back to your most valuable asset your website.
So what other marketing terms can be considered, or you have heard of but not sure what they are?
- B2B marketing – promotion and sale of product or service from one business to another.
- B2C marketing – promotion and sale of product or service to individuals
- Direct marketing – sending your marketing message directly to potential/existing customer in the form of flyer, catalogue or coupon with a compelling call to action.
- Email marketing – using email tools to deliver any marketing message to a subscriber in a fast and effective way.
- Event Marketing – participating at the right event puts you in direct face to face contact with quality potential customers. The idea is to create a memorable experience that generates long term buzz.
- Loyalty Marketing - rewarding repeat customers
- Word of Mouth Marketing – providing an exceptional service or experience to a customer that they are pleased to share that experience to their own personal and professional networks.
The goal is to stand out and be seen. Good marketing continually draws customer's attention to your business. Utilising a number of marketing activities means that you are not stagnating. For example regular print advertising, participating at events and rewarding loyal customers. This stems from having a marketing plan in place!
