What's your #1 tip when dealing with clients?
Number 1 tip is to give the best customer service possible, in an area where there is more than just you doing what you do, it's what will set you apart from the others and make people want to come back to you.
What is your most memorable experience as a business owner in France?
My most memorable experience as a business owner here - I guess there have been good and bad. I can remember driving home from a market where I'd sat in the rain all day and hadn't sold a thing, that was a memorable low point. And then my first Christmas market in my second year where I tripled what I took the year before and was the realization of the work I'd put in throughout the year.
What do you enjoy most about what you do?
What do I enjoy about what I do - I enjoy the variety, I have a few things that I do which allow me to use my creative and organizational skills, and to meet some lovely people along the way.
What do you do to switch off from your business? How do I switch off? I'm a single mum to an energetic four year old so that keeps me busy. But the best thing about the work I do is that I can fit it around being a mum. I enjoy spending time with family and when the sun is shining, enjoying the French outdoor life!
What advice would you give to someone starting out in business in France?
Advice I'd give somebody starting out would be to talk to as many people as you can and don't be afraid to try - somethings work, somethings don't, but keep going and eventually the way forward becomes clearer.
What's the best book you have ever read?
Best book I've ever read - work wise, 'who moved my cheese' by Dr Spencer Johnson, but I love some lighthearted chick lit like the cupcake cafe series by Jenny Colgan or the Bridget Jones diaries by Helen Fielding.
A penguin walks through your front door wearing a sombrero. What does he say and why is he there?
My penguin would say ola amigos and he's come for a dip in the pool to keep cool during our long hot French summer!
